ARTIST'S JOURNEY

A trailblazer in innovative visual storytelling, this Hong Kong-based filmmaker made waves in 2019 when his film G Affairs earned him a nomination for Best New Director at the Hong Kong Film Awards. Beyond cinema, his creative pursuits span a diverse range of media, including commercials, music videos, digital content, music production, and large-scale event productions. During the global pandemic in 2020, he rediscovered his passion for painting and has been creating art ever since.

 

Since relocating from Hong Kong to Vancouver in 2021, he has been living in Burnaby, near Deer Lake. This proximity to nature has deeply influenced his work, as he often paints en plein air, capturing Deer Lake’s ever-changing landscapes and weather conditions.

 

His artistic philosophy revolves around capturing the interplay of light and shadow to uncover the hidden truths of the world. Believing that purple represents the boundary between reality and imagination, he frequently uses shades of purple and blue to explore darkness, while his vibrant palette imbues familiar scenes with a supernatural quality.

 

As a filmmaker by profession, he excels at crafting visual scenarios, akin to designing a scene where characters move freely, revealing hidden messages embedded within the imagery.
